Read this Important Information to Schedule a Cosmetic Video Consultation

Video Cosmetic Consultations with Dr. Mettu are available for patients who are interested in any of the following procedures and who are not local to central NC: 

Upper blepharoplasty

Lower blepharoplasty

Laser resurfacing

Botox Injections

Cosmetic / Self-Pay Pricing

The new patient fee is $255 and return visits are $195 (pre op and post op appointments are not considered return visits and are included in the surgery fees). There is a surcharge for procedures. Additional information regarding self-pay pricing can be found here. Please note that there is a standard new patient consultation fee of $255 whether the appointment is by video or in person and this fee does not apply to the procedure costs.

Preliminary Screening

Prior to scheduling the video consultation, your information will first be screened to ensure your concerns are something that may be addressed and to confirm that there are no medical contraindications to surgery. Note that Dr. Mettu does not offer consultations for lower blepharoplasty revisions.

Additional Information

Please also be aware that if surgery is scheduled after the video consultation, there will also be a video pre op appointment 1-2 weeks before surgery and an in person pre op appointment during the same trip as the surgery (likely 1-2 days before surgery). These two pre op appointments are included in the surgery fees. Please note that the surgical plan may be adjusted by Dr. Mettu after the in person visit as indicated by the in person examination.

Travel and lodging are the patient’s responsibility.

If you schedule surgery, please be aware that for planning purposes, an adult must accompany you to the surgery center, stay at the surgery center, and accompany you to your lodging and be with you for 24 hours after surgery. You cannot take an Uber or Lyft by yourself after anesthesia.

Post procedure care and assessment can be provided remotely, but post op in person visits may be necessary if there are any concerns with regard to healing.

Scheduling Process

To proceed with the process of scheduling a cosmetic video consultation with Dr. Mettu, please follow these steps:

• Review these three required office policies. You do not need to sign these yet but will do so when you check in online for the appointment (more on this later).

  • NOTICE OF PRIVACY PRACTICES

• Download the Spruce App which we will use for secure HIPAA compliant communication and for the video call.

• Send a photo of your ID (driver’s license or passport) via Spruce. We will use this to create your chart and a formal ID is also required by the surgery center. If your address is different from what is listed, please provide an up to date address.

• Complete the surgery screening form (create a copy, complete, and send back via Spruce).

• Take photos of yourself and send them to us via Spruce. Here are instructions for taking photos: Please take photos in front of a plain background with good natural lighting. For example, use a plain-colored wall (light colored backgrounds are preferable). If in doubt, the photos can be taken in front of a white door. Photos should be taken to include the top of the head to just below the chin. Selfies are okay. Relax your facial muscles (i.e. avoid raising your eyebrows) unless specified below. Keep your head level. Hold the camera in the same plane as your eyes such that you are not looking up or down. Do not tilt the camera. After we review your photos, additional photos may be requested if needed. Please take the following photos.

• Once your information is reviewed, we will communicate with you via Spruce and let you know if we can offer an appointment and will help you schedule a time for the video consultation. If we feel you have a problem that we cannot help with, we will let you know and we will forgo scheduling an appointment.

• We will help you schedule an appointment by messaging you through Spruce, but it will not be finalized until the following two items are completed and these must be completed within 48 hours of receipt and more than 24 hours prior to the appointment:

  • Complete the online check in - we will provide further instructions on how to do this after the appointment is scheduled. During this process, you will sign the required consent forms that were previously mentioned.

  • Payment of invoice for the $255 consultation fee. This will be sent via Spruce. The consultation fee is refundable as long as cancellations are made within 24 hours.

Confirmation

As your appointment nears, you will get confirmation texts from our Virtual Assistant to confirm your appointment. The text will come from 984-279-0313. If you do not confirm at least 24 hours prior to the appointment, your appointment may be canceled.

Late Cancelations/No Shows

Cancelations with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a fee of $50. No shows are subject to a fee of $100.
